The President of the Hellenic Republic Constantine An. Tassoulas is participating in the 8th Summit of the European Political Community, which is taking place in Yerevan, Armenia.
Upon his arrival at the summit, Mr. Tassoulas made the following statement:
“Today’s 8th summit of the European Political Community is taking place in Yerevan, Armenia, at a critical juncture for Europe and the world.
The ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East continue to threaten international peace, economic growth and energy security of the entire world.
In this ominous environment, Europe as a whole is called upon to seek solutions that will promote its unity and strategic autonomy, while remaining committed to the principles of democracy, the rule of law, human rights and respect for international law.
In this context, at today’s Summit, we will have the opportunity to discuss the safeguarding of our common European home, our democratic institutions and our critical infrastructure from the various hybrid threats that may jeopardize the cohesion of our societies.
At the same time, we will exchange views on the need to strengthen the European economy, primarily through projects related to energy and technological connectivity. Greece, moreover, aspires to play a crucial role in this sector through the development of infrastructure, such as the Vertical Corridor, which will establish it as a hub for the import and transport of energy and other products to the Balkans, Central and Eastern Europe.
I therefore look forward to constructive discussions that will contribute to deepening cooperation and promoting peace for the benefit of all the countries of Europe and their citizens. ”
Yesterday, on the first day of the visit to Yerevan, the President of the Hellenic Republic attended the official dinner hosted by the President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan and the Prime Minister of the country Nikol Pashinyan, in honor of the Heads of State and Government.
