The President of the Hellenic Republic Constantine An. Tassoulas participates at the 6th Summit of the European Political Community, which is held in Tirana.
On his arrival, Mr Tassoulas made the following statement:
“The European Political Community is a forum for political dialogue and exchange of views at the European level, wider than the European Union since 20 countries participate in addition to the Member States of the European Union. It aims to promote prosperity, security and stability across the European continent.
Today’s 6th meeting of the European Political Community takes place here in Tirana at a critical international juncture: critical for the developments in Ukraine, critical for the issues of European Defence – the European Union is already discussing the issue of financing its defense through the SAFE programme -, critical for the issues of stability and security in the entire Europe.
We are in a time of major geopolitical changes and upheavals. The European Union strengthens its defence and strategic autonomy, seeking to develop a common stance on security issues with countries that are in line with the Union’s common foreign and defence policy and embrace the European values of democracy, the rule of law and human rights.
These issues will be at the core of our discussions here today at the 6th Summit. We will discuss European security and stability, the strengthening of democratic institutions and the rule of law, the collective approach on migration and the improvement of competitiveness in Europe.
I am certain that the fruitful dialogue and the proposals that will be heard will contribute to deepening cooperation and promoting peace for the benefit of all the European countries and their citizens”.
The President of the Hellenic Republic Constantine An. Tassoulas, on the margins of the 6th Summit of the European Political Community, will hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts.
The President of the Republic is accompanied by the Secretary General for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy Maira Myrogianni and the Permanent Representative of Greece to the European Union, Ambassador Ioannis Vrailas.
