The President of the Hellenic Republic Constantine An. Tassoulas is participating in the EU – Western Balkans Summit taking place in Tivat, Montenegro, with the central theme “Shared prosperity and stability of the EU and the Western Balkans”
Upon his arrival at the Summit Mr. Tassoulas made the following statement:
“The European Union–Western Balkans Summit is beginning with the topic of the Western Balkans’ prospects for accession to the European Union.
As is well known, Greece, for decades since 2003, has strongly supported the European perspective of the Western Balkans. This is also a matter of national interest. Greece wants to have a European institutional environment on its northern border and so today I will have the opportunity to express this support, which already, since June 2003, was expressed in the Thessaloniki Declaration, where the path of the Western Balkan countries toward Europe began.”
