The President of the Hellenic Republic, Constantine An. Tassoulas received the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania Igli Hasani, who is visiting our country.
Mr.Tassoulas noted that the two countries, linked by historical ties, ought to cooperate closely on the basis of the principles of good neighbourliness and international law, in order to promote peace and stability in the region. He also stressed that for Greece is of the highest priority, the Greek National Minority and the protection of its rights, including property, educational and cultural rights.
Within this framework, he reiterated that Greece will continue to support Albania’s efforts to join the European Union, assessing the progress made with regard to the necessary reforms.
For his part, Mr. Hasani referred to the friendly ties between the two peoples, stressing that the Greek National Minority in Albania, as well as the Albanian community in Greece are bridges of mutual understanding and communication between the two countries.
He also expressed his gratitude for Greece’s support of the European perspective of Albania and stressed that his country is willing to work together with Greece for the settlement of outstanding issues and the further deepening of bilateral cooperation.
