The President of the Hellenic Republic Constantine An. Tassoulas met with the President of the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg Claude Wiseler, who is visiting Greece.
Mr. Tassoulas referred to the excellent relations between Greece and Luxembourg, stressing that the two countries share the same views on critical issues concerning Europe and the world. In this context, he expressed his appreciation for Luxembourg’s longstanding supportive positions on issues of interest to Greece, such as the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Cyprus issue.
The President of the Republic also emphasized that in a period of great geopolitical fluidity, it is time for the international community to work collectively and with adherence to international law in order to establish conditions of peace and reconciliation.
Finally, referring to the ongoing consultations aimed at achieving peace in Ukraine, Mr. Tassoulas argued that, in any case, Europe must accelerate its steps towards integration and strategic autonomy.
For his part, Mr. Wiseler praised the excellent level of bilateral relations, emphasizing the shared understanding between Greece and Luxembourg regarding today’s major challenges, from Ukraine to the Middle East.
Finally, expressing his interest in Greece’s positions on critical issues facing Europe, such as the migration issue and the advancement of European defense, he stressed that his visit to Athens would contribute to further strengthening the ties and communication between his country’s Parliament and the Hellenic Parliament.
