The President of the Hellenic Republic Constantine An. Tassoulas expressed with his message to the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia Sam Mostyn, the deepest condolences of the Greek people and himself personally to the families of the victims of the terrorist attack perpetrated during a public Hanukkah celebration in Sydney, an attack that targeted innocent civilians.
Mr. Tassoulas wished a speedy recovery to the injured and emphasized to the Governor-General that Greece stands in solidarity with the people of Australia and the Jewish community.
“We unequivocally condemn this heinous act of terror and the antisemitic hatred that motivated it. Violence directed against individuals on the basis of their religious identity is an affront to human dignity and a direct attack on the fundamental values of tolerance, democracy and peaceful coexistence. Greece stands firmly with Australia in confronting terrorism and extremism in all their forms. ” Mr. Tassoulas stated in his message.
